While it's recommended that homeowners shampoo their carpets every three or so months, businesses with many customers coming and going must do so much more often. If your carpets look or feel grimy, you'll know it's time to help them shine.
Check Nooks and Crannies
Anyone who's ever dropped a pen cap or a screw knows that things can travel much further than seems possible. Freshly cut hair, wayward garbage, and medical supplies are no exception (and no place is immune to dust build-up!). That means, in addition to disinfecting tables, counters, sofas, and chairs, you must ensure you neaten every nook and clean every cranny.
Focus More on High-Traffic Areas
High-traffic areas will always collect more germs than places seldom used. Thus, bathrooms, doorknobs, entryways, sinks, touchpads, and lobbies warrant more attention than a storage closet or back room. While you can get away with surface cleaning specific areas of your business (such as the nooks and crannies mentioned above), engage in daily deep cleaning of the areas most exposed to bodily fluids, fingers, and the bottoms of dirty shoes.
Use Safe Products
Not all disinfectants and cleaners (or even machines!) are safe on every surface, and some may cause damage. Ensure the products you choose are strong enough to get the job done but gentle enough that they won't leave stains, cause scratches and other types of marks, or leave the surface discolored. When in doubt, it's best to apply a small amount of your cleaner to a limited, less visible area to see how the surface reacts. If the products work safely, proceed with an all-out scouring!
